When I had the opportunity to photograph Scott and Jesse, I had no idea the significance of the timing of their portrait session. While we were planning the details of their session, Scott revealed that they had never had professional portraits taken together, not even at their wedding. During their winter session at Bluff Point State Park in Groton, CT, I also learned they were celebrating 10 years of marriage that year.

I met Mike and Katlyn a few years back when they hired me to be their wedding photographer. Our first session together - their engagement session - was held at Harkness State Park here on the CT shoreline and we created some really beautiful images that night. Fast forward a few years later and I have had the honor of capturing the moments of their wedding, newborn photos of their first daughter, her 6-month sitter photos, and finally this family session to celebrate her turning one, right back where it all started - Harkness!
What can I say about this sweet family, aside from they are one of my favorites?
I’ve been photographing them for a few years now, as they booked Baby’s First Year Plans with me for their son and daughter. For Soleil’s first birthday last summer, we decided to use the last session that was included in her baby plan for a family session (that included lots of milestone shots of her) at Harkness Memorial State Park.
Since Cherie’lin and Scott live out of state, we communicated about the wedding over phone and email, and I was so excited when she shared some of the special details that she was putting together for their wedding, including her collection of Blue Willow china, which she started collecting because of her grandmothers and included in the wedding to honor them.
